Mile 1450 – Appalachian Trail train stop to Mile 1455.7 – Wiley Shelter
Rocket noted as we rode the train out to the trail that it almost didn’t seem real. I agreed completely. With the busyness of the last few weeks, there was little time to contemplate what we were about to do.

Electric fence
The weather was amazing! After a short road walk we entered some fields with cattle grazing. The trail in this section has some steep climbs and we started encountering them right away. Signs of things to come.

A little trail magic to welcome us to the trail

Rocket keeping the fire going
There were a few NOBO thru hikers at the shelter where we stopped for the nite and Rocket loved talking with them about the trail and making sure the fire had plenty of fuel.
