Mile 1646 – William Douglas Shelter To Mile 1652 – Manchester
Brenda left Montreal early in the morning to meet us at the trailhead. We didn’t have cell service where we were camped so we made sure to start hiking in time to meet her at the start of our prearranged window. She was waiting when we arrived and it was a very happy reunion. The rest of the day was spent enjoying town food and exploring Manchester.

Rocket has been lobbying for a pillow the last couple of weeks. Our plan was to wait untill we were comfortably averaging 12 miles per day before adding any weight to our packs. As we passed the 200 mile mark today we agreed that we could handle a couple of extra ounces. She made a convincing argument that a pillow would help her sleep better and therefore have more energy for hiking, which would make up for the extra weight.
After lunch, our first stop in town was the outfitter to pick up lightweight pillows. Luxury!
