Mile 1712 – Stoney Brook To Mile 1722 – Winturri Shelter
We didn’t have a lot of hiking planned for today so we took our time with breakfast and then hit the trail. There are some steeper sections in this part of Vermont and today we even encountered a place where the trail uses an aluminum ladder to descend a rock face. I’ve heard this is pretty common on the LT north of here, but it is the first time we’ve seen it on the AT.

Descent using a ladder
For lunch we stopped at a cabin just off the trail with a little platform up on the roof. We took our time eating and enjoying the view.
