Day 46. Maine

Mile 1904 – Gentian Pond Shelter To Mile 1915 – Full Goose Shelter

As we started walking this morning we were reminiscing about our time in New Hampshire. About the challenges that we overcame, the people that we met, and the peaks that we climbed. We know that the trail ahead will bring its unique challenges, but we won’t have anything quite like the Whites ahead.

No rain, no pain, no Maine

For NOBO hikers starting in Georgia, Maine represents the beginning of the end. For us it means we’re about to pass the 500 mile mark and a change in focus to the immediate challenge of Mahoosuc Notch, soon to be followed by the 100 mile wilderness, and then Baxter. The Whites have been our focus for so long that it is slightly disorienting.
