Mile 2056 – Bald Mountain Pond To Mile 2076 – Shaw’s Hostel
We stopped early yesterday because the trail was much slower than expected and we could not get as far as we planned before dark. The trail today was fairly easy and we had our longest day yet to get to Monson.
We woke up before dawn and were on the trail at first light. The trail was fairly easy, but did involve two rivers the needed to be forded. The fords were not difficult, but the water was cold. We even got trail magic on the way! A couple who hiked the trail a few years ago were out cooking hotdogs for hikers. While we were stopped there we chatted with a woman who has been section hiking the trail for 25 years and is now 75. She has only the 100 mile wilderness left to complete the trail!

So many ponds
We got to the hostel by 3:30 and quickly finished our laundry and grabbed dinner. This is our last opportunity to plan the last NOBO section of our hike and our last time in town before the Milinocket.

We expect to have very limited cell service for the next week, so there may be gaps in the blog schedule.
Twenty miles. Well done. You are facing the challenge well.
