Looking ahead into New Jersey
The trail passed near a creamery this afternoon so we stopped in for an ice cream snack. Several of the locals that we talked with there were proud to inform us that it is the second best creamery in the Northeast. This statement begs all sorts of follow-up questions such as: “what makes the cream from this farm inferior?”, “how is that really quantified?”, and “people really care about that?”. No one, however, seemed interested in getting into the details so we just nodded in appreciation whenever this was mentioned. After eating our sundaes, Rocket and I agreed that they really did taste as if they could be second best.

State line!
Those were all good questions, though I have to admit that my first thought on hearing about the “second best creamery in the Northeast” is to wonder how far away from your route the best one is located. I fully support a taste test, so please report back. 🙂
