Mile 1314 – Wildcat Ridge To Mile 1328 – Waynesboro
We have been looking forward to Waynesboro for a long time. My aunt Debbie has offered us a place to stay in town and she and my mom are picking us up at the park entrance this afternoon. We are excited to see them!
Skyline Drive
Again today the trail conditions are terrible and continue to get worse. We were unsure how long it would take to get through it, so we started out well before dawn. It was a good thing we did as we arrived at the southern park entrance with only 15 minutes to spare after rushing all morning. McCormick Gap was particularly bad. It felt like walking through the aftermath of an explosion. You might be able to see in the image below that almost every visible tree has white scars where linbs have broken off.
We just laughed when we saw that the thru hiker self-registration kiosk near the entrance was completely smashed. A fitting end to our time in SNP!

This afternoon Rocket had lots of fun with her aunt and grandma before we all ate dinner at Ming Garden. It was a wonderful day.
