Day 159. Mountain Crossing

Mile 2156 – Stealth To Mile 2175 – Gooch Mountain Shelter

Last night Ox and Torch walked a few miles farther than we did in order to stay at a hostel out of the rain. We got up early this morning to meet them there before they left and enjoyed a cup of coffee in the hostel. The place is right on the trail and is famous for being one of the first opportunities northbound hikers have to get off trail if they decide to quit. There is a bit of a tradition there for folks who are ending their hike to toss their boots up into a tree by the entrance. I’ve heard about this, but it was fun to actually see it.
