Mile 1394 – Punchbowl Shelter To Mile 1383 – US Route 60
We reached the road to Lexington just as the snow was starting. It is disappointing to have to pause so close to our goal, but this is the right choice. The mountains that we could see in the distance when we arrived in town are now hidden behind walls of falling snow. We’re happy not to be up there right now. This morning there was still a glimmer of hope that we could hike out tomorrow, but the storm is currently predicted to continue for another full day or more. So, we have decided that tomorrow will be a zero.
