Mile 58 – East Rim Viewpoint To Mile 77 – North Rim

We woke up to a beautiful sunrise over the canyon and quickly packed up. Rocket was back to 100% today and we had a goal of making it into the park. We took a quick side trail to the historic North Rim fire tower for some amazing views.

It is a 10 mile walk to the Backcountry Office from the park boundary. There we arranged our permits for the next day. The rangers understand the difficulty of scheduling in advance, so they reserve a few spots in the canyon each day for AZT hikers. We knew it was not guaranteed, so we’re so grateful to get one of them for the next day. The rest of the afternoon was spent doing laundry, showers, and planning our time in the park.
Can’t wait for tomorrow!
You two are amazing.Such beautiful scenery.Enjoy each day.
