Day 10 – Devil’s Postpile

Mile 132.9 to Mile 153.2

It looks like it is going to be a good day

We started noticing some clouds in the sky, which is new. Rocket, who has spent a lot of time in Yosemite for the last two summers recognized this and immediately noted that the weather was going to change. I didn’t believe this, but used our InReach to get a weather report anyway. Sure enough, winter weather is coming.

Calm before the storm?

The trail takes a break from its normal pattern today with a very long stretch between named passes. Instead of a high pass, today the highlight was Devil’s Postpile National Monument. This monument is set to protect a really unique rock formation here in the Sierra National Forest. We didn’t stop in at the visitor center, but we had a great view of it from the trail. It was pretty wild to see.

No righteous supernatural being would do this

We say goodbye to the PCT for a little while
