Mile 153.2 to Mile 174.2

The puffy white clouds from yesterday have turned into dark rain/snow clouds over the mountains to the south. Fortunately, things look better in the direction we are heading. It is cold and windy where we are, but we’re hoping for a precipitation free day. We’re looking forward to completing the last named pass of the trail.

The wind kept increasing until the afternoon when it was so strong that Rocket was not able to stand up without holding on to something and could only make forward progress in the short gaps between gusts. This lasted for only about an hour though, and otherwise it was a cold, but pleasant day for hiking.

We entered the Yosemite backcountry at the top of Donohue Pass. This was an exciting milestone!
