Mile 1496.7 – Limestone Spring Shelter to Mile 1504.1 – Riga Shelter
It rained steadily all night and the last weather report we saw was pretty bleak for the next two days. Around 7:00 am the rain stopped, which was surprising because we were expecting thunderstorms.

Break in the Rain
We decided to seize the opportunity with a break in the rain, so we postponed breakfast and quickly packed up.

More steep terrain
We were planning to walk into town an were really hoping for a dry day. We were just in town for a few hours but it was just what we needed to feel recharged. The highlight for Rocket was an hour at the library reading. The highlight for me was the giant sandwich I got at the deli – half of which we packed in to camp for dinner.

Stop off at the local library
We planned a shorter day of hiking today because of the time spent off trail. We stopped at a shelter with the most amazing view a few minutes before a huge storm. Here are some pictures of the storm and clearing after.
