Day 8. Long

Mile 1513.8 – Glen Brook Shelter to Mile 1528.1 – Tom Leonard Shelter

We’ve been slowly increasing our mileage over the last week, but today we attempted a bit of a jump up to 15 including our off-trail distance. It was a beautiful day and the elevation gain looked doable.

Amazing trail in Massachusetts

Even though the climbs were shorter than the last few days, miles take a toll and we really started to slow down by the end. Afterward, we agreed that maybe we were not quite ready for that. Once we completed our chores and we were talking in our tent about the day, Rocket noted that the end of the day was the best – eating dinner and resting. But that it was so much better because we were tired from working hard.

Rocket’s opinion of Massachusetts improved even more when she discovered most of the shelters here have bunks and lofts. So cool! She said it reminds her of her room.
