Mile 1820 – Liberty Springs To Mile 1828 – Garfield Ridge
The trail today took us above treeline for several miles so we planned less hiking than normal in order to not need to rush across the ridge. We had amazing weather and spent as much time enjoying it as possible.

A glimpse of where we are going

In and out of the clouds

Clearing
From the top we could see mountains in all directions. I sometimes forget just how enormous the forest is in the Northeast. This view was a beautiful reminder. It is easy to feel very small when confronted with such an expansive view of the world down below.

Watching the shadows of the clouds

Clouds moving past
For Rocket, the ridge was like a giant, windy playground with cool alpine landscape to explore and constantly changing clouds.

Enjoying the walk on the ridge

Pretending to fly

Finding the peak

Walking down
What fantastic photographs!
Standing here at my desk in my office with it’s “stunning” parking lot views, I can’t help but feel rather envious of your experience. I’m not sure I’d be able to keep up with your energy, though.
(BTW – We returned to EFA on Saturday – Ms. Sophie asked after Rocket and was mightily impressed when I told her what you guys are doing.)
