Mile 793 – West Mountain To Mile 816 – Wildcat Shelter
The fog that enveloped us yesterday cleared overnight. We started out today before sunrise and were greeted by a crystal clear view of the city lights. My phone could not really capture it, but it was a bit magical. Rocket stopped for a moment to contemplate our experience in the city at the start of our hike. She was struck by the contrast between the silent calm of our morning on the mountain and the energy of actually being there among the buildings and people.

NY City at night
Later in the morning we caught another glimpse. Again, my phone can’t capture it, but I’m including a crop of the skyline to give you an idea.

The rest of the day was filled with fun hiking among the rolling hills and a few ridge walks to keep it exciting. This was our longest hiking day so far, taking advantage of the easier trail. We’re pretty exhausted, but happy with the accomplishment.

Thanks for taking me on this ADVENTURE…….oh how I wish I was traveling just a bit behind you two. I wouldn’t want to take from what you and Rocket are creating together.
