Mile 1039 – Stealth To Mile 1047 – Cove Mountain Shelter
After descending from our camp site last night and several miles of road walking, we finally arrived in Duncannon. The trail leads right through town and a block away from The Doyle, which is an old inn that is sort of legendary on the trail. Over 1300 hikers stayed there this year, but we were just stopping in for lunch.

We were the only ones there when they opened at 11:00. The owners welcomed us in and chatted with us while we enjoyed a huge and relaxing lunch. They were wonderful to talk to and even gave us a ride to the grocery store across town to resupply!

Leaving Duncannon
Anyone who knows Rocket can guess the likely expression on her face based on the rest of her body language :-). Thanks to the owner of the Doyle for giving her an opportunity to trick-or-treat. (The bears, squirrels, rabbits, and beavers tend to provide different kinds of tricks and treats).
