Day 118. Southern Virginia

Mile 1482 – VA Route 311 To Mile 1503 – VA Route 621

With Brenda we drove south to pick up the trail about 140 miles from where we left off. We were sad to leave the familiar territory of central Virginia, but already looking forward to returning there to complete that section. For now, though, our attention turns to our new location.

What a relief! A whole day of normal hiking. There were a few blowdowns on or near the trail. Perhaps one per mile, which is way better than the one per ten feet from the last few days. A couple of local hikers that we met on the trail today complained about having to deal with so many downed trees. When Rocket heard that she stifled a bit of a laugh and gave me an incredulous look that was just priceless.
