Mile 1689 – Massey Gap To Mile 1709 – Beartree Gap
We were expecting a cold and snowy hike today and that’s exactly what we got. Whitecap lived up to its name with six to twelve inches of snow on the ground and more falling rapidly as we walked. We all agreed afterward, though, that this was one of the more amazing days we’ve had on the trail.

We were fortunate to encounter ponies several times today! Some were curious and came over to investigate as we walked by. It was so amazing to see these animals in the wild.

The ponies don’t seem to mind the cold

It was a long day and we were cold and tired when we reached the location where we had arranged to meet our shuttle driver for the return trip back to where we are staying. A hot meal and warm room were so nice after this hike!
Y’all are now cowboys, too! There’s no gender when speaking of cowboys. You both continue to amaze me with your journey…..looking at that snow and cold weather I have to question my toughness! Keep on, Heroes.
