Day 145. Max Patch

Mile 1917 – Laughing Heart Hostel To Mile 1937 – Max Patch

There are a couple of significant peaks left before we enter the Smokies. The first is Max Patch, which we tackled today. Unfortunately, it was in the clouds so we didn’t get the normally spectacular view. However, we were glad to make progress despite the snowy weather.

We’ve also finalized our plans for Christmas in Gatlinburg! Brenda will be coming there to meet us along with Torch and Ox. It looks like we should be able to reach Newfound Gap by the 23rd, which will be perfect timing for a day or two off for the holiday assuming no logistical issues with the park.
