Mile 11 – Winter Road To Mile 24 – Stealth

Today’s hiking was mostly flat, going through miles of forest that has been burned in a recent forest fire. In one of the few remaining living patches that had shade, we encountered our first group of people. They had a dog with them, that begged me to throw his stick, so I obliged and he followed me for a little bit hoping I would throw it again.

We stopped after 5 miles for a quick snack at one of many large gates connected to miles of barbed wire fencing. Seemed rather unnecessary.

Mordor … love your wit! And doesn’t every dog hope for a thrown stick – perpetual optimists!
