Mile 24 – Stealth To Mile 42 – Stealth

In order to walk across Arizona you need to cross the Colorado River. This river crossing will be one of the highlights of the trip. It turns out there has been a bit of erosion along the banks, which makes crossing slightly complicated. We’ve been training for this, but still expect it to be very difficult. We’re using these first few days to ramp up and make sure we are ready.

Most of today was hiking through another burn area. However, this one was a bit older and enough time has passed that new trees are starting to appear. Most of them aspen in peak fall color. Such a stark contrast to the charred earth beneath.
