Day 19. Transition

Mile 332 – Pine To Mile 341 – Stealth

After another stop at the library this morning, we downloaded the books that Rocket started to her Kindle. Then we hiked across town to the place where Brenda had sent our resupply box containing new shoes for the second half of the trail. We found a nice surprise snack for Rocket from Nathan in the box as well. Thank you!

As we walked away from Pine in the afternoon we could already see the transition. We are leaving the Colorado Plateau, in which we’ve been hiking from the start. As we drop down across Mongollon Ridge the landscape changes from high desert / Rocky Mountain climate to the warmer and drier desert of the American southwest.

  1. I was able to surprise one of those surprise snacks before we shopped the box. Nathan has some baking chops! I imagine they taste even better after a few 100 miles
