Day 20. Entering the Mazatzal Wilderness

Mile 341 – Stealth To Mile 363 – Stealth

Starting the Mazatzals

We’re starting possibly the most remote and rugged section of this trail. It will also be our longest stretch of wilderness yet with not even forrest roads through this area.

Crossing the East Verde River. “I’m glad this water isn’t actually green.”
Mountains are coming

We’re also getting ready for the real climbing on this trail to begin. Between Pine and our next resupply we’ll have over 20000′ ascent and over 23000′ descent.

    1. Is brown better? Honestly, I’d prefer drinking green water over brown, because at least it’s just algae and not cow poop. (We filter it, but still…)
