Mile 365.6 – 391.8
After a restful town stop in Lake City, we’re turning our attention to a long stretch of trail without a lot of camping options. I think a lot of hikers break up this section into multiple days by going off trail to camp near lakes at lower elevations. We have that option if needed, but plan A is to do a longer day to reach an area near the trail that we hope will have at least a few small trees for shelter.

We were walking for about an hour before the sky started to lighten and about another hour after that before sunrise. Passing the high point marker was a fun moment.

This was an immensely beautiful and fun day of hiking. I didn’t check to be sure, but I believe we had more elevation gain today than any day on the JMT. It felt different though due to the constant ups and downs rather than a single massive climb that we had become used to.

We were tired at the end of the day, but it was a good kind of tired. We were happy to reach our goal without needing to bail out part way due to weather. Ultimately, we were able to find a spot near the trail with at least a couple minimal tree/bush things to block some wind, so we quickly got set-up and crashed for the day.
Well, Rocket Walkers, your photos continue to delight!
It is a joy to behold your journey. Cheering you both on, but extra for Rocket to get inspiration for those college applications,
