Day 5. Dodging the Rain

Mile 1485.4 – Pine Swamp Brook Shelter To Mile 1496.7 – Limestone Spring Shelter

There was a welcome break in the rain for the first half of the day and we tried to take advantage of it. We stopped for a bit to enjoy a cool waterfall and dam. The workers at the nearby hydroelectric plant set up an area for hikers with water and electricity so we stopped there for lunch and to recharge Rocket’s kindle. We spread all of our wet get out in the sun and it dried slightly while we ate. Loud thunder as we were finishing lunch told us it was time to go.

Rocket is impressed with the height of the corn

There is something cool on this log

The plan for tomorrow is to walk into town to resupply and get some real food for lunch. Can’t wait!

  1. The Rogers are following from Austin and the trip looks amazing. Tell Rocket that Zach has come back from Alaska with a new name, Slippery Otter. That might have to be his trail name when we do it. Have fun.
