Mile 1504.1 – Riga Shelter to Mile 1513.8 – Glen Brook Shelter
It rained all night and the forecast predicted it would not end until afternoon. We had not yet dried out from day before so we decided to wait and hike after the rain. We had about nine miles planned with three significant climbs (for us) so we knew we’d be arriving at our next camp site close to dark.

Wet trail after the storm
The sun appeared around noon so we quickly packed up and headed out on muddy trails.
It is difficult to describe how simultaneously amazing and challenging the trail was today. We were scrambling most of the day on steep climbs and descents made more difficult by water flowing on the trail like it was a stream. Rocket often put away her poles and climbed like a rock wall. I could not keep up.

One of the many waterfalls today
We crossed into our third state today and Massachusetts did not disappoint. The highlight was a ridge walk for a half mile right on the edge. Totally worth the effort.

Massachusetts!

Amazing views

Near vertical climb with steps!
We’ve been apprehensive about the climb up Mt. Everett for a few days so it was exciting to finally get there today.

Just finished a big climb

Ice cold water trail magic after the climbs
Such grand photos, especially today! Thank you so much for sharing with us. Wishing you good hiking.

You’ve dealt with a lot of rain – but the smiles just keep coming. Third state! Nicely done….and I loved the Cape Cod product placement….watch out for bears!

I noticed the strategic Cape Cod product placement as well. (Breaking News: Possible upcoming story about mother bear and three cubs).
